How My Mind Works - a quick peek behind the curtain of my blog

This is mainly an excuse to show you a string of videos that I thought were cool, under the pretext of explaining how I hop around on YouTube and make my seemingly random selections for posting on the blog.

First up is a video I saw while watching a livestream by zekkyou:



Apparently it's based on an American advert. After finding it I had a quick look at the other videos on the channel (MissAlissa15) with this being the first to catch my eye:



To me, that is a great, quirky YouTube video and a clear sign that this is a channel of quality. A fact supported by these further offerings:





Of course, having watched that last one I had to go compare it to the original:



Every time I hear this song I of course think of the masterpiece that is Grosse Pointe Blank and so went looking for a video of it to share with you. The trailer is terrible and full of spoilers so I figured this was a better example to use:



Finally, I couldn't resist sharing this epic interview fail featuring John Cusack:



Now you have an idea as to how I find these strange, weird and wonderful videos to share with you. Normally I would have only shared one or two of these but for every video that makes it to the blog, there arre three, four or even more that lead me there.

Lady Gaga reads my blog!

Lady Gaga obviously read my 'Katy Perry takes Lady Gaga down a country road' post. How else can you explain her releasing this Country Road version of Born This Way?

Band Fight!

Matt and Kim were the inspiration for my favourite blog posting, but I had forgotten about them since. This was my loss, as their latest video shows.

And now for something completely different

Like many would be bloggers, I've found it difficult to keep up the necessary levels of motivation and dedication required to continually update a blog. For me this is often because I'm distracted by many other things and find it difficult to come up much to say on just a single topic. It's very much a case of my being too widely spread, and at the same time shallow in my thinking. Recognising that I am unlikely to change this any time soon I have decided to embrace rather than repress this side of me and provide blog content which more closely mirrors the magpie like nature of my intellect.

Oh a shiny thing... where was I?

"I like to share things I find on the internet." That's kind of my catchphrase and is evident in the number of links I post on Twitter and Facebook. Believe it or not, I restrain myself from posting everything I would like to share for fear of overwhelming people even more than I currently do. So I have a blog I update rarely and struggle to find things to talk about and Twitter & Facebook accounts clogged with too many links and not enough conversation... Eureka!

I will henceforth be trying to use my blog more frequently, and at the same time reduce the clutter on my other feeds, by gathering these links to internet trinkets and baubles together and putting them on my blog.

Initially this will probably be collections of YouTube videos. Instead of posting several links in a row as I finishing watching each one I'll try to restrain myself and just pop them in a blog post. In fact I think I'll do so right now...

Twittering Masses

The recent surge in popularity experienced by Twitter finally caught me up. Facebook hooked me in 6 months ago and my early attempts at blogging grew weary without an audience, but there is something about the 140 character limit imposed by Twitter that has seized me in a way the others haven't.

A few weeks after becoming a Twitterer, I've found myself integrating it into my daily life in ways I couldn't have imagined. Once you realise that the basic interface offered via the Twitter site is for only the most inexperienced of users, a whole new world is presented to you.

I now run third party applications from my PC and mobile which give me a greater control of both my own Twitterings and the Tweets of the people I follow.

Twitter is here to stay and I intend to take full advantage of it. This is just a quick and easy post, partially to test some Twitter functionality, my next post(s) will delve a little deeper into my twitter experience.
